In the final stages of preparation for the Dakar 2012 for lack of a rally, the Rally of the Pharaohs was marked on the calendar Eat to start taking pace. However, from day Avia pilot proved to be a fully competitive level and won the first stage with almost four minutes ahead of second place. While lost in the second stage of that advantage in the third stage re-imposed, extending his lead over twelve minutes over second place.

In the second half of the rally, he returned to a winning strategy in stage four, giving up four minutes in particular in relation to second place, while retaining the ten lead in the overall standings. Taking advantage of his perfect control of his KTM 450 Rally in the harsh Egyptian dunes, its piloting reimposed in the queen stage of the test, a span of more than 540 kilometers, 444 of them timed.

Marc Coma: "With the difference in her general, all I had to do was control the race, and manage my margin without undue risk. The important thing was to come, as the 350km timed special was very long for a final stage, and could not lower our guard. I am very happy to have won this event for the fifth time, so now I have the record of wins in this test. Overall it was a perfect rally, no problem, I physically found the bike very well and has not taken any decision. It is a very demanding rally and a bike like the KTM 450 Rally is almost a guarantee. Now it is the Rally of Morocco, who will do very well to finish getting ready, it will be the last test before the Dakar. "
